The FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 are over - let us think of the future...We are happy to be able to inform you about some very interesting - futur-oriented and innovative concept ideas, for Driving at the next FEI World Equestrian Games, 2018 in Canada, by the FEI Official Richard Nicoll, USA, the former Chairman of the FEI Driving Committee.

Driving at the World Equestrian Games 2018, Bromont, Canada

This year the World Equestrian Games has been assigned to the town of Bromont in Quebec , Canada.This is the second time in 8 years that the WEG has been outside Europe.

We all know what happened in regards to the Driving sport when the first WEG took place outside Europe in KY. With Four in Hands representing Driving ,we only had a limited number competing.

Those competing from abroad did so at great expense to Federations, themselves and Sponsors as each Competitor coming had to bring 5 horses, thus a complete team of three meant 15 horses.

I think the time has come to reassess how Driving should be represented at the WEG in Bromont ,Canada. I believe it should be the single Horses.

The expense for the National Federations competing at Driving with Single Horses at the World Equestrian Games in Bromont , will be more in line for what they will be spending on other disciplines , to compete at the Event.

Also I believe most importantly that this will then encourage more Federations from both Europe and the World to send Individuals and Teams to the WEG in Canada. Which in itself will help grow our sport, in the smaller Driving Nations and also show those involved in other disciplines, something that is in reach of many other equestrian athletes.

I truly believe this is the way forward for the sport of Driving at this future 2018 World Equestrian Games. I hope the FEI and the World wide Driving community will give this true consideration.

I encourage all National Driving committees to put this as an Agenda item at a future meeting.

 Fahrsport bei den Weltreiterspielen 2018, Bromont, Kanada

In diesem Jahr wurden die Weltreiterspiele nach Bromont, in Kanada, vergeben. Das ist das zweite Mal in 8 Jahren das die WEG außerhalb Europas stattfinden.

Wir wissen Alle was es für den Fahrsport bedeutet, wenn wir die Erfahrungen der ersten WEG die außerhalb Europas, in KY, stattfanden heranziehen. Bei den Vierspännern, die den Fahrsport repräsentieren, wird nur eine überschaubare Anzahl von Teilnehmern an den Start gehen.

Für die Vierspännerfahrer aus dem Ausland sind sehr hohe Aufwendungen für die nationalen Verbände, für die Sponsoren und jeden einzelnen Fahrer selbst zu erwarten, wenn man bedenkt das jedes teilnehmende Team 5 Pferde zu transportieren hat, was für eine Nationen Mannschaft 15 Pferde insgesamt bedeutet.

Ich bin der Meinung, dass es an der Zeit ist, darüber nachzudenken wie der Fahrsport bei den WEG in Bromont, Kanada, repräsentiert sein soll. Ich glaube das es durch den Einspännersport sein sollte.

Die Kosten für die nationalen Verbände beim Fahrsport, mit Einspännern, bei den Weltreiterspielen in Bromont teilzunehmen, wären mit den anderen Disziplinen vergleichbar, die im Rahmen der WEG stattfinden.

Ich glaube auch vor allem, dass dadurch mehr nationale Verbände aus Europa und der Welt, Individualstarter und Mannschaften zu den WEG nach Kanada entsenden würden. Was für die Weiterentwicklung des Fahrsports sehr positive wäre, und auch den kleineren Fahrnationen es ermöglichen würde, mehr Teilnehmer zu schicken.

Ich bin wirklich davon überzeugt, das dies ein positive Weg für den Fahrsport in Zukunft der Weltreiterspiele 2018 wäre.

Ich hoffe dass die FEI und die weltweite Fahrsportgemeinschaft dieser Idee Beachtung schenkt. Ich möchte alle nationalen Fahrsportausschüsse dazu anregen, diesen Vorschlag als einen Punkt auf die Tagesordnung der nächsten Sitzungen zu stellen.
