Boyd Exell wurde am am Geburtstag der Queen hoch ausgezeichnet. Er erhielt mit der Medaille Order of Australia Medal (OAM) eine grosse Würdigung für seine Verdienste im Pferdesport - speziell im Fahrsport.
Boyd Exell has been honoured in HM The Queen's Birthday 2014 Honours list and has been awarded the Order of Australia Medal for service to equestrian sport particularly Four-in-Hand carriage driving.

For service to equestrian sports, particularly Four-in-Hand Carriage Driving. Four-in-Hand Carriage driving is an event modelled along the lines of a ridden Three-Day Event and includes three competitions - dressage, marathon or cross country, and cone or obstacle driving. A carriage is drawn by a team of four horses that have their reins rigged in such a way that they can be driven by a single driver.
